File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
for Macintosh Tutorial

In this tutorial, you will learn how to install and run Fetch as your FTP client. Most FTP clients work similarly, they just look different. This tutorial will walk you through the basics.

If you do not want to use Fetch, then please see this listing of Mac FTP clients or go to download.com for other options.

Step 1

Go to www.download.com and download Fetch. Make sure you select "In Downloads" next to the search bar. Fetch is the most popular FTP client for Macintosh.

Step 2

Install Fetch on your computer and run it.

Step 3

You will see a menu asking for information. In the Host field type www.yourdomainname (yourdomainname includes .com, .net, or .org.) The user and pass fields are the username and password that you set up with GKG. If you do not remember these, please contact GKG or lookup your username.

Step 4

You will automatically be placed in the right directory on our servers and will be able to edit your webpage.

Step 5

After connecting to the servers use the "Put Files" and "Get" commands to transfer files to the server or get files from the server.
